The case

Agencies want lower-cost, agent-capable customer-relationship workflows but may not be equipped to operate open software across several client tenants. Revgate proposes a managed control plane with identity federation, per-client isolation, narrow agent capabilities, audit evidence, regional deployment choices and upgrade management. The supplied license audit materially narrows the premise: only two examined components are confirmed self-hostable under permissive licenses; one is already a hosted service and two remain unverified.

Revgate must never market itself as hosting software whose source or license does not permit it. Source identity, license version, self-hostability, upstream release, deployment artifact, tenant, user or agent identity, capability grant, credential reference, action, approval, acknowledgement, readback and customer outcome remain separate. Hosted services can be connected only under their own interface and commercial terms.

A control plane can produce evidence for assurance, but identity federation, isolation, audit logs and residency diagrams do not themselves make the service certified or compliant. Formal assurance requires a defined scope and independent process. Numeric incumbent prices are omitted because they are observed market references, not fixed product pricing.

Who pays — and why

An automation or revenue agency operating client-separated sales workflows that needs managed open components without assuming self-hosting, licensing and control responsibility alone.

What it unlocks
A source allowlist binding repository identity, exact license, self-hostability, release, provenance, support owner and exclusion status
A per-client operating envelope with tenant isolation, identity, narrow agent grants, credential references, regional placement, recovery and support access
A governed upgrade and action trail separating proposal, customer approval, command, acknowledgement, destination readback, rollback evidence and control review

8
Asymmetric leverage

A shared control plane scales across tenants after each component is verified and standardized.

7
Productive tension

Open software reduces vendor cost while shifting licensing, security and upgrade liability onto the managed operator.

5
Why nobody did it

Open components make delivery possible while license, isolation and operations remain longstanding barriers.

Why it scored well

The input identifies an agency buyer, several current agent-capable revenue components and a concrete isolation, authorization and evidence layer.

What's holding it back

Only two of five examined components are confirmed usable as intended, the hosting layer is highly copyable and no recent deadline or structural incumbent cost is shown.
